Monika food safety system a finalist in The Caterer awards

October 20th , 2014 by

Market-leading wireless temperature monitoring provider Monika has been named as a finalist in The Caterer magazine’s Product Excellence Awards 2014.

From hundreds of entrants, Monika has been named as one of three finalists in the Hygiene category of these prestigious hospitality industry awards, in recognition of its innovative new TaskMinder food safety system.

TaskMinder allows caterers to allocate, schedule and monitor the completion of key HACCP actions such as hygiene checks, maintenance logging and cleaning tasks (which have traditionally been managed through inefficient and inconvenient paper forms). The new module integrates seamlessly with Monika’s existing PathFinder wireless temperature monitoring system, even utilising the same wireless Smart Reader.

Reminders alert staff to upcoming and overdue actions, and the completion of said actions is logged in real time by a series of ID and area tags, providing a completely traceable and tamper-proof account of events. Managers and auditors can quickly and easily assess performance and compliance across multiple sites using Monika’s Smart Wireless Monitoring software, allowing them to correct any issues before costs or liability occur.

Discussing Monika’s new TaskMinder module, Managing Director Tim Gamble commented: “By introducing TaskMinder to our existing suite of wireless temperature monitoring tools, we’ve created a total safety solution. The full Monika food safety system eradicates the need for lots of paper records, provides clients with a real-time overview of operations, gives them the data to streamline activity, helps them free up staff time and gives them 24/7 protection.”

The Monika TaskMinder food safety system was designed to assist hospitality professionals in the multiple task management issues routinely faced when trying to ensure food safety, building on the success of Monika’s wireless temperature monitoring system.

Talking about the thought process behind this new food safety system, Tim explained: “Monika prides itself on innovative thinking and customer care, so we’re always seeking to understand how best to refine our products and services to meet the evolving needs of the market. Through talking to clients, we identified that while our wireless temperature monitoring solutions were providing excellent tangible benefits, there was scope to develop a more encompassing food safety system and support clients in other aspects of their HACCP plan.”

The Product Excellence Awards, organised annually by esteemed industry magazine The Caterer, recognise excellence and innovation in food/drink and equipment products within the hospitality sector.

Winners will be announced in a formal awards ceremony on Tuesday 2 December at Westminster Kingsway College in London.
