Solutions
Optimised Clinical Workflows
Monika’s versatile system includes equipment, enterprise, and team management capabilities which can be adapted to help managers in all clinical environments.
Hospitals & Healthcare
For Hospitals and Healthcare, whether it’s on the ward, in the catering department, in the pharmacy, or in the visitor’s café, Monika helps teams keep perishable products hygienic and safe. Simply set up location or department as ‘site’ on the system to form a single Enterprise. Bring all your data together and use the analytics and performance indicators for a birds-eye view. This can be particularly helpful to the Estates Department, where the site engineering team can track performance of all refrigeration across the site.
Enterprise Management
Managers can quickly and conveniently view all live records from one centralised dashboard, thanks to Monika’s smart cloud-connected system. This is particularly useful for operators looking after multiple sites – whether that’s to compare different wards to identify training opportunities, or comparing food preparation facilities to monitor equipment efficiency.
Equipment Management
Monika’s discreet in-unit sensors cleverly simulate the temperature of perishable goods for greater accuracy and peace of mind. Should a unit move outside a predetermined safe temperature range, staff can be nominated to receive alerts. Medicines can then be quickly relocated before they spoil, helping prevent expensive waste.
Pharmacies
Many drugs and medicines need to be kept refrigerated at strict temperatures to maintain their shelf life and safety. The high value and sometimes short shelf life of vaccines, insulins, proteins and biotech products makes correct storage temperatures vital. Rigorous temperature checks are essential for compliance with MHRA industry best practice and NPSA patient safety strategies. The Code of Ethics for Pharmacists also stipulates that medicines should not be supplied if there is any doubt regarding their integrity and safety.
Equipment Management
Monika’s equipment management application gives the necessary continuous accurate temperature monitoring you need, with air and humidity monitoring providing greater detail and peace of mind. Instant alerts can be escalated to specified team members on or off site 24/7/365. These enable prompt action to save product or maintain shelf life based on a review of immediate temperature history, while our plant management features can predict potential breakdowns. Temperature history records will stand up to the most rigorous audits.
Team Management
Monika’s Team Management mobile application can also be applied for ensuring routine checks by staff of the condition and shelf life of medications according to pre-established schedules and routines.
Laboratories
A variety of standards, regulations and best practice guidelines apply to the handling and storage of highly perishable biological specimens, body parts, micro-organisms and embryos. Temperatures can be extremely critical to the growth or other deterioration of organisms, and meticulous monitoring and recording is mandatory for evidencing quality and safety. Continuous temperature monitoring is the only option for such vulnerable items. Pen and paper records are vulnerable to unacceptable error, and data loggers do not provide the required traceability as they can be accidently moved and replaced in the wrong location when downloading data with total loss of data integrity.
Equipment Management
Monika’s Equipment Management application gives the necessary continuous accurate temperature monitoring and recording for appliances such as incubators and waterbaths as well as for specimen fridges. Monika’s air and humidity monitoring of the workspace can ensure that specimens remain safe during testing or autopsy. Temperature alerts can be escalated within the team on or off site 24/7/365. These enable prompt corrective action to avoid deterioration or loss. Our plant management features also allow potential breakdowns to be predicted, with alerts raised to ensure pre-emptive maintenance and hence stock protection. Temperature history records can be run for audit purposes or supplied with samples.
Blood Banks
Blood banks are closely regulated, with guidelines for storage and use provided by the MHRA. Temperature limits are tight and storage shelf life is limited. Bloods must be tested under controlled conditions. Red cells and whole blood (if used for transfusion) must be labelled and stored in a refrigerator for up to 42 days. Platelets are stored at room temperature in agitators for up to five days. Plasma and cryo are frozen and stored in freezers for up to one year. Traceability documentation including temperature records is mandatory and these must be held for long periods. This brings filing and storage challenges.
Equipment Management
Monika’s Equipment Management application gives the necessary continuous accurate temperature monitoring and recording for fridges and cold rooms as well as plasma freezers. Ambient processing areas and storage units can also be monitored. Records can be securely retained on Monika’s cloud platform for as long as may be required. Temperature alerts can be escalated within the team on or off site 24/7/365. These enable prompt corrective action to avoid substance deterioration or loss.
Team Management
Monika’s Team Management mobile application can also be applied for scheduling and conducting routine checks by staff of the shelf life and condition of stored substances.
